I was redoing my kitchen and searched for a replacement downdraft, the old one was looking kind of bad with the new cooktop. Most of the downdrafts came with stainless steel tops ,I needed and wanted black to match the cooktop. Perfect!! sits on the edge of the cooktop and make it look like all one piece. Easy install even with my existing kitchen!!

It is not robust as my previous downdraft. Installed but is still shaky and with no support I am worried that it may not last that long.

This replaces the exact same unit from 11 years ago. The original finally stopped raising but would still turn on. I hope this one will last as long.

I have to have the control mechanism in the cabinet under the counter because of the granite counter top. It is a little inconvenient but at least I don't have a big hole in the wall or countertop. The draw is not as good as the Thermadore down draft I had but it is sure better than having the fan unit in the middle of the stove top, I am satisfied as it did fit the old spot. Wish it had the control on the unit,

We have only had it for a short while, but so far it works great! It clears out all the cooking smells from the kitchen which I really appreciate.

This is my 2nd purchase of this downdraft. It works fine as a downdraft but it seems to easily break. Now it will not lift up out of the compartment making it useless.

I absolutely love my GE Downdraft. So much better that an overhead hood. It sits right behind my cook top and with the variable fan speeds takes care of any cooking needs. It is sleek, easy to maintain with removable grids, and looks great.

The black paint on the vent hood is flaking off to where you see the metal underneath the black coating. I have had it for only two years and rarely use it. It is flaking in two separate places and because it is on top of the hood facing up, it looks very bad.Fan is rather loud but works. It gets in the way of a large pot when using the large middle cookplate of the GE Induction cooktop. Can I repaint it and what is the type of paint you use.

This was a drop in replacement for an older similar GE vent that quit working. Just needed a small modification to the existing vent pipe. The new vent seems to draw air better than the 15 year old vent. Time will tell if it is reliable!
Does not vent fumes as good as an overhead vent.

AFTER CAREFUL INSTALLATION I FOUND THAT THE THE HOOD WOULD NOT GO ALL THE WAY UP WITHOUT HAVING TO PUSH THE BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES. THEN ID WOULD NOT GO ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT ALL THE WAY DOWN IS TO PULL UP ON ON IT AS IT IS RETRACTING. FAILED RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

My unit was installed in 2015 and now the unit will not operate (ie does not rise) Service came out and I was told the the entire motor assembly needed to be ordered. (500.00) Now two week later the part cannot be found and GE has no idea when on will be shipped.

This is a very expensive product for the quality of venting. This model replaced a previous one and it doesn't pull the air as strongly.
